Hey, what’s the word?! I’m Jarvis, but I usually go by WordPlay online. I am the host of a YouTube and Twitch channel called TheWordPlay, where I find ways to combine my love for God with gaming! My goal with TheWordPlay is to reach as many gamers as possible with the Gospel, and bridge communities that otherwise would never meet.

I am also a graphic designer, digital artist, an aspiring video game developer and animator; my goal is to start my own company and create the kinds of creative projects that inspired myself.

Before I became a Christian, I was a massive gamer; my first game console was a SEGA Saturn, and I was hooked ever since! Though my friends also liked games, I invested myself in all things gaming: getting strategy guides, reading up on Game Informer, learning behind the scenes game development from G4TV and so on.

During my freshmen year in college, some students from out of town invited me to study the Bible. After a few studies, I got baptized on May 5, 2013 and the rest is history! I have been a part of the International Church of Christ (ICOC) ever since.

The thing was I still loved games, so it felt like I was stuck between two worlds, as most gamers want nothing to do with Christianity or religion.

However, after attending my first Super Smash Bros 4 tournament at my school, I knew my mission to share the Gospel by going where the gamers are would eventually become the basis for TheWordPlay!

My go to game genres are platformers (3D ones are my jam!), fighting games, JRPGs and Metroidvanias. I also do my best to support the indie game scene, as well as obscure games. My favorite game always changes, but I find myself returning to Sonic and Mario a lot!

Outside of gaming, I go on adventures with my lovely wife (which usually amounts to anime, Disney and K-Dramas lol), and I also enjoy cooking.
